The Catalyst Club is a unique monthly Brighton event that pays tribute to the old traditions of French Salon, debating societies and Gentleman's Clubs.

On the night three guest speakers take to the lectern to talk for fifteen minutes on a subject close to their heart.

Some of these previous lecture titles will give you a flavour of the evening:

Bees - Emergence Theory - Hitler's Moustache - Victorian Lantern Shows - Cunnillingus - The Exciting World of Slime Mould - Giant Squid - The Dawn of Civilisation.

End of a decade…but we return Jan 14th 2010

Those who came to the last catalyst of the decade will, I’m sure, agree it was one of our best ever. We had Mark Bennett’s free absinthe handouts, Sarah Space Dog’s demonstration of Edison’s wax recorder, Dave Flack’s history of undersea cabling and, to wrap it all up, Lorraine Bowen’s Sequined Safari; the story of how, in 1979, her family won a ’spot the sun’ competition through Shredded Wheat to go on safari in Africa. Lorraine even brought along her parents and the original giant cheque…

Thanks to Mark, a few moments from the night have been preserved below…
